Maxi Mini

It’s that time of year when the heat becomes more of a burden then a joy. To keep cool– both in temperature and style– on sweltering days like this, I went with a cotton lace mini dress disguised as a maxi! Sneaky sneaky… ;)

Add pops of color to a neutral look with bags or jewelry, and throw on a floppy hat to stay in the shade and on trend.

Dress- Marshall’s
Bag- Target
Hat- H&M
Necklace- Forever 21
Watch- Marc by Marc Jacobs

Playing With Texture

Focusing on all the “it” colors of the season makes it easy to forget about the other ways to add depth and dimension to an outfit, such as mixing textures. This Saturday outfit was a mix of faux suede (top), faux leather (jacket), real leather (bag), felt (hat), and good ol’ cotton (shorts).

Top and Jacket – thrifted
Shorts – Zara
Hat – H&M
Bag – Rebecca Minkoff

Hi-low & Cut-Offs

Trying out a hi-low top from Forever 21 with my homemade white cut-offs for a day in Chelsea

Colorblock & short shorts

Black is gracious, black is kind, black is the universal color that can be paired with anything– including brown and navy these days. Even better is how it flatters everything from the body curves of the wearer to the patterns placed against it. That’s why I paired this colorblock blouse from Piperlime with solid black shorts from American Apparel.

Short shorts were huge on the runways this season, which can be a little daunting. To keep it classy, ladies, simply wear a loose modest top to offset the scandalousness of feeling like you’re wearing bathing suit bottoms around town. It’s all about balance!

Happy Friday!

Happy #tbt Independence Day

Family, friends, music in my ears, sand in my toes, frisbee in my hand, burger in my mouth– it all comes together in perfect harmony for the Fourth of July. With the amahzing weather we are having out here on Block Island, I needed to be cool and carefree, and nothing does that better than the 70s “flower child” getup. Just celebrating my roots on this #tbt Independence Day!

From Solstice to Sunday Brunch…

No matter how much I enjoy traveling and exploring and working in the concrete jungle, coming home is always a delight. Dancing (and photobooth-ing) the night away on solstice, shaking my fins to the left, fins to the right at Jimmy Buffet on Saturday, and waking up to a brunch of french toast, lox, and mushroom spinach quiche on Sunday? I’d say missing the NYC nightlife for one weekend was worth the trade.

Friday night’s outfit: striped dress from forever 21
Saturday: shorts and top from Forever21, vintage jean jacket, thrifted wedges

OOTD – Sunday Shopper

Ever wish sweatpants were fashionable? Dear reader, meet the tapered sweatpants. Okay, they had some fancier name online at Asos, but that’s basically what they are. Paired with thrifted platform wedge sandals and loose floral tank, I took the usual couch shopping attire to the streets.

NYC Haul-eluja!

Just the first of (I’m sure) MANY to come!
